Branding a fleet so every van reads the same
Different vehicle shapes, different batches, months apart — how to make a fleet look like one fleet.
The short answer
Consistency comes from designing to the vehicle, not to a template. A layout scaled blindly across a Transit, a Caddy and a Sprinter gives you three different-looking vans. The goal is that each reads identically from twenty metres, even where the artwork differs up close.
Design once, adapt per shape
Fix the things that carry recognition — logo size relative to the panel, colour blocking, where the phone number and website sit — then adapt around each vehicle's real constraints: door seams, window lines, wheel arches, body creases.
A van with barn doors and one with a tailgate need different rear layouts to end up looking the same on the road.
Colour across batches
Print batches drift. Vinyl from different production runs can vary very slightly, and a wrap fitted a year from now won't sit on the shelf next to today's.
Two things keep this under control: specifying brand colours as exact references rather than "our blue", and keeping a record of the material and profile used so later vehicles match the earlier ones. We hold that spec against your account so van seven matches van one.
Phasing a rollout
Few businesses re-brand an entire fleet at once, and you don't need to. The usual approach:
- Do the newest and most visible vehicles first — the ones seen most.
- Wrap replacements as they arrive, before they enter service.
- Bring older vehicles across at natural moments — a repaint, a change of driver, a lease renewal.
Budget spreads, and the fleet still looks deliberate throughout because every vehicle is either on the old scheme or the new one, not a muddle.
Downtime
The practical constraint is usually vehicles off the road, not cost. Wrapping in small batches keeps you trading. Booked ahead, most commercial vehicles are back with you quickly — we schedule around your working week rather than ours.
