Build a storefront people stop for with professionally designed shop front signage. At V Signs, we design, fabricate and install shopfront fascias, built-up letters, halo-lit illumination, lightboxes and projecting signs — for retailers, restaurants, salons, cafés and professional practices.

Shopfront signage covers a lot of ground. Flat printed fascias for budget rebrands, built-up acrylic letters for boutiques and trade shops, halo-lit and trough-lit illumination for venues that read after dark, traditional hand-painted signwriting for heritage and conservation-area buildings. We handle planning advice where listed buildings or conservation rules apply.

We've replaced shopfronts and supplied new signage for retailers, restaurants and professional practices across Petersfield, Farnham, Woking, Winchester, Godalming, and Central London — fitted around trading hours so doors stay open.

Every project runs in-house — design, fabrication, fit and electrics — so the sign sits straight, lights work first time, and the finish lasts decades.

FAQ

Good to know

How much does shop front signage cost?

Shop front signage runs £400 for a small flat printed fascia up to £8,000+ for full illuminated built-up letters on a large frontage. Most independent shops, salons and cafés land between £900 and £3,500 for a complete shopfront. Send your shopfront width, what you want to say, and a photo of the existing frontage, and we'll quote within a working day.

What's the difference between halo-lit, face-lit and trough-lit signs?

Three styles. Halo-lit (reverse-lit) puts LEDs behind built-up letters so they glow around the edges — premium, modern, used by boutiques and brands. Face-lit pushes light through translucent letter faces — bold, high-visibility, used by takeaways and 24-hour venues. Trough lighting is a separate downlighter above the fascia — cheapest, traditional, used on independent shops and pubs. We fit all three.

Do I need planning permission for a shop sign?

Often yes. Most external shop signs over a certain size, illuminated signs, signs in conservation areas, and signs on listed buildings need advertisement consent from the local planning authority. Smaller, non-illuminated signs on standard high streets often fall within permitted development. We'll look at your building, check the local rules, and tell you what consent is needed before we fabricate anything.

How long does shop front signage last?

Built-up letter signs and quality fascias last 15–25 years before they need replacement. LED illumination typically runs 50,000+ hours — that's around 12 years of daily evening use before any drop in brightness. Hand-painted signwriting holds well for 8–12 years on properly prepared timber. We use marine-grade fixings and weather-rated builds throughout, so the structure outlasts most rebrands.

How long does installation take and will my shop have to close?

Most shopfront installs take one to two days, scheduled around your trading. Smaller fascia replacements can be done overnight or on a Sunday so you don't lose a trading day. Bigger built-up letter installs with electrical work need a half-day minimum and we coordinate with your electrician on power supply. We work clean — no debris, no dust on stock.

Can you remove and replace an old shopfront sign?

Yes — full strip-and-replace is normal work. We remove the existing fascia, dispose of it, repair the underlying structure if it's water-damaged or rotten, and fit the new sign. If the old sign is a heritage piece worth keeping, we can also restore traditional hand-painted signwriting rather than replace it.
