A-frame pavement signs run £80–£200 for a standard double-sided board; snap-frame poster A-boards £150–£300 (poster swappable); heavy-duty water-base or weighted boards £200–£400. Will the board blow over in the wind?
Not with the right base. Standard A-frames are fine in light wind but get tippy in gusts. For exposed high-street or forecourt positions we recommend weighted A-frames or water-fillable bases — the water adds 15–25kg which holds the board firm in heavy winds. We'll spec the base to your pitch.
Do I need council permission to put a pavement sign out?
Sometimes. Most local councils tolerate A-frames on the pavement outside your premises during trading hours — but some councils require a licence (typically £100–£250 a year) and a few specifically prohibit pavement signs in pedestrianised zones or conservation areas. Check with your local council before committing; we don't apply on your behalf.
How long do pavement signs last?
Aluminium composite pavement boards last 5+ years outside, even being put out and brought in daily. Rigid PVC boards run 2–4 years before they start showing wear from handling. Snap-frame boards last 5+ years on the frame; the posters inside last 6–18 months depending on UV and weather. We can reprint inserts at any time.
Can I change the message myself?
Yes — that's what snap-frame A-boards are for. The frame opens at all four edges; you slide out the old poster, slide in the new one. Most shops swap posters seasonally or for sales and events. We can supply replacement posters at any time, or you can print them locally if you have the artwork.
How quickly can you turn around a pavement sign?
Standard A-frames and snap-frame boards typically dispatch within five working days from artwork sign-off. Custom-shape or composite boards take 7–10 working days. Same-week turnaround is possible on standard sizes if the artwork is print-ready and you confirm by Tuesday.
